CMF Camp Caroline Project

The Bugaloo

Maintaining a building that is three hours away is a challenge but the men from St. Pauls Christian Church in Raleigh, NC have kept the Bugaloo in good condition for over 15 years. Over time, the faces have changed but the job continues to get done.

This year the men replaced all of the screen that help make this building a haven for retreats and camps. In all about 140 running feet of screen wire and over 300 feet of lath.

The work was divided into teams. Charley Mullin, Ray Smith, Jr, and his son Ray Smith, III started removing the old screen wire at 6:30 AM. By 9:00AM, Bill Moore and Bob Wolfe had arrived from Raleigh. At about the same time, a friend Charles Hines from First Christian Elizabeth City joined us.

Bill Moore and Charles Hines concentrated on hanging wire. Charley Mullin, Bob Wolfe, and Ray Smith,III installed lath while Ray Smith Jr painted exposed surfaces that would not be accessible after the screen was installed.

The last piece of screen was cut when the dinner bell rang for lunch. We were on our way home by 1:20 PM.
