Creation Care 4.0 at Camp Caroline

Focus: Discover God’s presence in the beauty and rhythms of creation. Engage all generations in learning how God is known through creation and why creation care is faithful stewardship.

Gains: Support Camp Caroline’s sustainability efforts; Build thriving, creation-minded congregations and personal practices; Empower youth leadership in creation care; Form community partnerships for visible impact

Outcomes: By the end of the retreat, you will set and begin implementing SMART goals for sustainable creation care practices.

Our keynoter Rev. Clayton Summers of Camp Walter Scott, who will lead group discussion to and equipping leaders of all ages, including summer camp directors, RCYW, CCNC leaders, pastors, teachers, elders and members, with knowledge and practices to better understand and articulate: 1) how God is known through the wonders of creation, and 2) why creation care is part of faithful stewardship.

FREE for Regional Leaders (Summer Camp Directors, Camp Caroline Committee Members, RCYW, Regional Staff), Youth and Young Adults (30 and under).

EVENT FEE, $75 PP. Includes lodging, meals, & event costs Request for a SINGLE PERSON PRIVATE ROOM is an additional $50 fee. SCHOLARSHIPS may be available for those needing assistance.

Friday (February 27th)

  • Pre-Session (10:00 am - 5:00) Visit with and learn from local environmental partners. Session leaders and times are to be determined and may include: Coastal Environmental Partnership (Waste Management), Tideland EMC (Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy Generation); Pamlico Community College (Environmental Education). Shared meal option (Dutch treat) at 5:00.

  • 6:00 PM: Registration & Move In (Craft Tables and Resource Tables Set Up)

  • 8:00 PM: Opening Session (Ice Breakers, Intro of Weekend, Goals)

  • 9:00 PM Opening Worship

Saturday (February 28th)

  • 7:30 AM: Morning Watch

  • 8:00 Breakfast

  • 9:00 AM: Keynote: Intro and Lessons from Camp Walter Scott

  • 10:00 AM: Inventory of Local Resources at Camp Caroline: Pollinator Garden, Living Shoreline, Nature Trail, Community Partners

  • 11:30 AM: Shared Learnings & What’s Next?

  • 12:15 PM: Lunch

  • 1:00 PM: Keynote: Funding Opportunities for Success

  • 2:00 - 4:00 Interest Group Break Outs (Director Training, Committee Meeting, Service Projects, Craft Demonstrations)
